Platt Vineyard Chardonnay

Platt is considered by many to be the greatest Chardonnay site in California and produces fruit that can be put up against great white Burgundy.  This vintage was fermented and aged in a concrete egg in order to maintain the great freshness of the wine.  With a Chablis-like texture, and nervy personality, the Platt Chardonnay has great richness and complexity.  Aromas of pear, freshly cut nectarine, mint, wet sand and orange blossom.  On the palate the wine is assertive and a pure expression of Chardonnay.  The acidity is pronounced and luscious, and provides tension for the flavors of golden apple, peach, chamomile, and lime sorbet.  While rich and mouth-filling, it also has a distinctly sleek and saline personality.  This wine would benefit from 1 hour of breathing time or decanting. Platt is considered by many to be the greatest Chardonnay site in California and produces fruit that can be put up against great white Burgundy. The nose opens with notes of cantaloupe, honeysuckle, orange blossom, wet stone and tinges matchstick reduction, lichen, and lemon curd. The palate follows through offering generous fresh persimmon, apricot, nutmeg with a flinty backbone underscored by notes of fresh flaky pie crust. It is a wine of both precision and generosity which is perfect to enjoy now or can be cellared for years to come. More Details >

Sauvignon Blanc

A gorgeous heady perfume explodes out of the glass.  The wine flaunts a palate filled with peach, pink grapefruit, dried pineapple, fig, candied ginger and lime zest.  It is a boisterous symphony that displays great intensity and texture without obvious wood aromatics or flavors.  “One of the greatest Sauvignon Blancs coming out of California.”  JD 98 pts Jeb Dunnuck. Proprietary Pinot Noir

Like black forest cake in a glass, it flashes  aromas of dark cherry and cocoa.  Arriving shortly after are notes of orange pekoe tea, redwood forest floor, sweet bay leaf, tar, exotic spices and an alluring chalky minerality.  The long finish is dense with fruit and big sweet tannins. Platt Vineyard Pinot Noir

Less than three miles from the Pacific Ocean Pinot Noir from the Platt Vineyard tends to be more Burgundian in character than almost any other site in California.  Fresh cranberry, clove and a potpourri-like perfume define the nose.  Spend time enjoying the ethereal nose before you indulge, you will not regret it.  Once you take the plunge, the wine is shy and introverted, but alluring.  Notes of mulberry, red plum, sweet black licorice, sandalwood, Chinese Five Spice powder and white pepper are displayed with discretion and grace, while the wine has a kind of wild quality to it. This wine will benefit with 1+ hour of breathing or decanting. More Details >

Less than three miles from the Pacific Ocean Pinot Noir from the Platt Vineyard tends to be more Burgundian in character than almost any other site in California.  The nose leaps from the glass with boysenberry and a melange of peppercorns (black, white, green, pink) giving way to tones of red plums, redwood forest and wet clay, star anise and slight hint of sandalwood and cedar. Once you dive into the palate, you’ll find an initial burst of strawberry leading to darkened raspberry, a touch of cranberry. The pepper tones soften and give way to notes of an herb that feels like a baby of sage and rosemary with a hint of mint, all backed by bits of sweet hay, laurel, and fresh potting soil. The tannins are soft, but still present and offering a decent amount of grip making it a wonderful food wine. This wine is lithe, poised, and precise – like a ballerina frozen in motion. Open and decant for an hour (or two) today or set aside in your cellar for a few years to truly see all that this wine has to offer. More Details >

Estate Proprietary Red Blend

Deep ruby color, spicy nose with notes of cassis, ripe raspberries, oak spices like nutmeg and hint of coffee bins.  The palate is full body, vibrant, juicy, sweet tannins front to back, dark fruit like blackberry and black currant with beautiful integration of the french new oak that adds another layer of spices and sweetness. The excellent tannin structure from the hillside vineyard with the acidity profile will allow the wine to age and evolve over the next decade or two. 95 Points Jeb Dunnuck. More Details >

True to this hillside location in Alexander Valley, this assertive wine reveals deep ruby red in color and ascends with aromatics of rose petal, black raspberry, expanding to crushed rock and herbal tea. Defining characteristics from the CJ block reveal undertones of dark fruit wrapped around the core of black currant, savory herb, and a slight umami sensation that engages the energetic tannins. As the mouthfeel expands, lively acidity initiates the wine towards a generous mid-palate and lengthy graphite laced finish. 96+ Points Jeb Dunnuck. More Details >

Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep color, spicy nose with a dark profile of blackberry and black current and tons of spices from the French oak, the wine also shows tobacco notes, roasted coffee beans and Christmas spices. The palate is dense, concentrated, and powerful with a solid core of tannins front to back, creating a lot of tension in the wine. The dark fruit profile, layers of spices and hint of sweetness round out the palate and create this full-bodied, complex wine. The unique minerality profile and acidity lifts the wine and creates a long finish. 100% Cabernet from the hillside vineyards created this powerful wine that will need another year or two to relax in the bottle before showing everything it has to offer, and will also age for the next two to three decades. 95+ Points Jeb Dunnuck
